![]() It sounds real similar and if nothing basic gets it restored, chances are the board has an issue preventing the laptop from passing POST. I feel whatever is wrong lies with the motherboard. One particular chip on the board gets intensely hot which slowly warms up the surrounding area of the board. Unfortunately, after inspecting the board, I came to the conclusion the logic board has some fault. While I know this is a different system, the behaviour is quite similar. This is because the CPU and GPU are not switching on. If I try powering up with just the battery, it cuts power just as the fan speeds up and just goes on a loop. Only this time the fan hits seemingly max speed and it stays that way until power is cut. It's a mechanical drive which seem to click when they turn off.Īfter the power off, it automatically boots back up and acts the same. That sound is the HDD turning off on this machine. After maybe 10 seconds, the fan slowly speeds up and before it hits max speed, power is cut and a click sound can be heard. It'll power up when I first hit the power button and stay on a black screen. I have a MacBook A1342 that does a very similar thing. This is due to most probably bad capacitors. First time I powered it up, image of ink levels were displayed. If you are not confortable to fix the monitor yourself, there is nothing you can do. Tech guys said it was checked out to be in good operating condition. Just bought the Dell printer from Good Will computer works store, on North Haskel in Dallas Texas. Initially when I tried starting it, I heard a faint "click" sound and nothing else happened, but that has since been replaced with the keyboard lighting up and the fans running at max. ![]() Oop, forgot to update with results □ it was a fried motherboard problem, all repaired now! They escalated it to warranty for me which was great, as it was a few months out.įell asleep with my laptop running the other night, the following morning it wouldn't boot up.
